If you own any kind of motor vehicle, you know about the importance of regular oil changes. Well, at least you should know a little something about routine oil changes, or else you might end up tooling down the road and unexpected “throw a rod.” The reason why we all need to get an oil change every few thousand miles is to keep out engines lubricated, which enables them to work properly and efficiently.

Unless people are interested with the intricacies of how automobiles work, and what really makes them go, they probably give very little thought to what goes on under the hood and chassis’of their motor vehicles. Regardless of what type of oil, or the condition or that oil, your engine will remain “thirsty.” Ultimately, when too little oil is available, the parts that need lubrication will stop moving, the engine will seize up, and you will seriously damage the engine. This is what is colloquially referred to as “throwing a rod.”

When you own a motor vehicle, you need to know where to get an oil change, and you should have a basic understanding of what motor oil to use in your specific vehicle. You should also make sure to choose oil change places that only use the best motor oils. This is because there are many different types of oil, and there are best motor oils for each vehicle. Of course, the leading oil change places will know which motor oils are best for your car based upon make, model, age, and mileage.
